The FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) has not yet approved UV Inks for human cosmetic purposes. But traditionally the FDA does not regulate tattoo inks or pigments.
UV Tattoo Ink is much more expensive than regular tattoo ink. This will of course raise the cost of getting a UV tattoo. There also have been reactions to the inks, ranging from minor itching to dermatitis. Several UV inks are suspected to contain carcinogens and allergens. More testing needs to be conducted as to side effects and long-term exposure. Many people have received UV tattoos and never had any side effects or reactions.
